239 Frost Protection Drinkers Heated 24 V drinking bowls – how do they work? Heating drinking water using drinking bowls is so easy! You only need at least one heated drinking bowl, a thermostat and a transformer (as 24 V operation). Which transformer for how many bowls? Simple! If you only want to use one drinking bowl with 80 W of power, a 100 VA transformer will suffice. If you also want to connect a 24 V heating cable, simply add the power consumption (= wattage) of the cable and this gives you the minimum power required for the transformer. Do not measure the transformer’s power too precisely, so you will have a buffer for extensions. Connection diagram 1. Mains connection 230 V, separately fused 2. You will find a sample calculation and a table containing power loss values in this catalogue.
