If you want to operate a water bowl with 80 watts of power (supplied), then a 100-watt transformer will suffice (item no. 222796). If you also want to connect a 24 V heating cable, simply add the current consumption (= wattage) of the cable. When selecting the transformer, plan for a power reserve of 15 % (factor 1.15). Which cable should I use? If the 24 V supply has to cover a larger distance between the transformer and the heater, please pay attention to the cable cross-section, to prevent the risk of drops in voltages along the cable’s route. Calculation to ascertain the minimum cable cross-section: Power x cable length: 3200 W/m In the above example, the result for a distance of 25 metres from the transformer to the heater is as follows: (282 W x 25 m: 3200 W/m) mm² = 2.2 mm² In this case, a cable with a cross-section of 2.5 mm² must be used.
