2 Breathability In technical materials, breathability refers to the ability to allow water vapour to escape. The fibres wick the moisture away from the skin very quickly. Breathability is measured in grams (g) of water vapour per square metre (m²) over 24 hours. For a breathability of 5000 in 24 hours, for example, 5000 g of water vapour exits through one square metre of this fabric. Waterproof The so-called water column rating in mm is the index for watertightness. It indicates the water pressure at which a surface becomes permeable to water. The DIN standard for the “waterproof” label is a water column rating of 1300 mm. The seams of products with this symbol are also waterproof. Water-resistant Textiles that have either a special surface treatment or a membrane count as water-repellent. Products with this symbol generally have a waterproof upper material and a water column, the seams are however not waterproof. Sealing the many seams of quilted-look products in particular is not possible. Windproof The penetration of wind cools down the body because the warm air layer is “blown away”. This makes the outside temperature feel colder than it actually is (wind chill effect). Perfect fit The material is elastic, moving as you move. Feather-light Here, very lightweight material is transformed into extremely durable and comfortable functional clothing. Each layer of this clothing is designed to make it easier for the body to maintain a constant temperature. The task of the interior material is to wick moisture away from the body and transfer it to the next layer. Thus the body can maintain a constant temperature. The middle layer effectively regulates body heat. The materials used here are optimal for wicking moisture to the outside and effectively surrounding the body in a warm cushion of air. The outermost layer of the layered clothing protects against wind, water and snow, while maintaining optimum breathability at the same time. This layer also retains body heat. wicking The fibre is specially treated so that moisture is quickly transported to the outside and the body is not cooled down! quick-drying Fast-drying material because the fibre does not absorb any moisture, but conducts it to the outside instead! Recycled The material consists entirely or partially of recycled fibres, mainly recovered from old materials. The warp, weft or both threads can be made from recycled raw materials. Organic Cotton The cotton yarn comes from organically produced cotton.
