Wasserdicht Die so genannte Wassersäule in mm ist die Maßzahl für Wasser- dichtigkeit. Sie bezeichnet den Wasserdruck, bei dem ein Material wasserdurchlässig wird. Die DIN-Norm für die Bezeichnung “wasserdicht” liegt bei 1.300 mm Wassersäule. Atmungsaktiv Atmungsaktivität bei Klimastoffen bezeichnet die Fähigkeit, Wasserdampf entweichen zu lassen. Die Fasern transportieren die Feuchtigkeit sehr rasch von der Haut weg. Atmungsaktivität wird gemessen in Gramm (g) Wasserdampf pro Quadratmeter (m²) über 24 Stunden. Bei einer Atmungsaktivität von z.B. 5000 in 24 Stunden können so 5000 g Wasserdampf durch einen Quadratmeter dieser Textilie austreten. Winddicht Das Eindringen von Wind lässt den Körper auskühlen, da die wärmende Luftschicht „weggeblasen” wird. Dadurch wird die Außentemperatur als kälter empfunden, als sie tatsächlich ist (Windchill-Effekt). Mehrlagige Konstruktion Jede Schicht in der Lagenbekleidung soll dem Körper erleichtern, eine konstante Temperatur zu halten. Die Aufgabe des inneren Materials ist es, Feuchtigkeit vom Körper weg zu transportieren und an die nächste Schicht abzugeben. Der Körper kann so gleichmäßig die Temperatur halten. Die Mittellage reguliert effektiv die Körperwärme. Hier werden Materialien verwendet, die Feuchtigkeit optimal nach außen transportieren und effektiv ein wärmeres Luftpolster einschließen. Die äußerste Schicht der Lagen-Bekleidung schützt vor Wind, Wasser und Schnee, bei gleichzeitig bester Atmungsfähigkeit. Diese Schicht soll auch die Körperwärme halten.
