This means animals can drink easily and quickly and that sloshing is minimised. • Animals should have a constant water supply available in order to have a positive influence on the productivity and growth of the animals. • Do not install the drinking station next to the feeding station. This would risk soaking the feed or dirtying the water bowl with food residues. • The placement of the water bowls should be oriented around the animals’ behaviour and be placed on the work walkways in order to facilitate water bowl cleaning and inspection. • At least two water stations should be installed separately for herd management. Animals can only drink undisturbed in this way. Furthermore, water bowls should not be set up in corners or dead ends; instead, place them in open areas to avoid contact between higher-ranking and low-ranking animals and to enable evasion.
