Water bowl technology for stable and pasture

24 Frost Protection Drinkers With thermal water bowls, also called ball water bowls, the water bowls are kept frost-free in winter freezing temperatures even without electricity if enough animals frequent the water bowl. The water line must be routed to the water bowl in a frost-free area of the ground (approx. 0.8 metres under the surface. Constant water intake by the animals means that earth-warmed water (approx. +5 °C) can continue to flow into the water bowl and is kept at temperature and thus frost-free by the bowl walls, which are insulated with thermal foam, and the bowl lid. The balls, also filled with thermal foam, close the drinking openings in the lid after ever use by the animal, preventing the water cooling too quickly and thus freezing. When drinking, the animal pushes the ball inwards and to the side. The water bowl’s good thermal insulation means the water stays pleasantly cool even in the summer, ensuring a pleasant drinking temperature all year round. The ball closure at the drinking holes largely prevents contamination of the water. The thermal water bowls have at least one plug so that water and dirt can be quickly drained from the water bowl. In order to reduce any potential manure entering the drinking station, it is recommended to mount the heated water bowls on a concrete base of at least 20 cm height according to the installation instructions.
