Water troughs are recommended here. • For calves, water bowls with a constant water level should be used and they should be adapted to their body height. Specifics for horses A metal guard can be mounted around the water bowl if a horse hits its head or stamps a lot, in order to protect both animal and water bowl from damage. In foal rearing boxed, a distance of max. 5 cm between guard and water bowl should be maintained so that foals don’t get their legs caught.
